Affordability has been eroding the fabric of Victoria’s community for decades, rents have been going up for decades as wages have largely stagnated. Other costs have risen as well the City now Fines Fees and Taxes $242 Million a year out of Victoria residence a 150% increase since 2001. Many other things have risen in costs but few are under the purview of the City.
Changing what we do around housing has the largest possible effect on the cost of living in Victoria. Under affordability we will discuss the options available to people in Victoria.
Taxation is the other major aspect that we can look at to see what needs to shift to ease the burden felt by a large portion of our society.
